I am not quite sure what OldPilot intends to convey with his multiple cryptic postings, but this ancient pilot spent many years navigating the old fashioned way, non-radio with map, compass, watch and eyeballs, and I think the addition of glide slope information is an excellent idea. I too have been a long time user of AWM and found this feature to be useful at fields without a published approach under VFR conditions. So go ahead, ignore the naysayers and just do it! If a user does not think it is a good idea, then just turn it off! And as an aside, if I fly the GPS approach to my home field using my WAAS GTN650 I find that on finals I have a full set of red lights on the VGSI with the needles centered! The VGSI is set to 3.5 degrees, the glide slope is 2.91 degrees on 10R at KHWO. So a one size fits all glide slope at something like 3.5 degrees my not present too much of a safety hazard.

Not including a useful feature simply because someone might misuse it to his detriment sounds somewhat like the government trying to protect us from ourselves.

Do we need more of that in pursuit of our passion to fly?

Frank’s suggestion of a set (default?) 3.5 degree glide slope sounds like a reasonable approach (no pun). No one here is talking about shooting an ILS approach in actual IMC using this feature. For that matter, what is to prevent someone from shooting a localizer approach with the existing iFly, or a VOR approach? That capability is in the iFly right now.

I am very much in favor of implementing this feature.

BTW, I too am an OLD pilot but not an ancient one.

Any news of this V-ILS feature being implemented in software updates since I last checked in?

I see SV is still in the works so perhaps then would be a good time. I guess at that point a V-ILS would be redundant. With SV you just punch in direct to and fly to the threshold using SV. I've not used SV yet but seems like that's the way it might work - just fly "visually" to the runway. No TERPS necessary. I'm looking forward to trying it someday. Still haven't upgraded to something newer. Still using my old AWM ATC. Lousy sunlight visibility and it's always losing the settings I set from the set-up screens, but I've learned to put up with its quirks and it's served me well. I really need something newer and better and about the same size though. The 520 looks perfect.

Re the WAC's that are going away, Mexico makes their own charts - I have a complete set but they are virtually unusable thanks to the colors blending with the small text. They went through a lot of trouble to make them but somebody did a really poor job. Our WACS are far superior. Their VFR charts are largely unreadable.
