Differences in GPS reception 720 vs iPad vs Mini?
Is there an info out there on the reliability of GPS signal pickup comparing the 700/720 with the iPads that have the built-in Apple GPS? Or anyone here with experience that can speak to that issue?
Any significant differences in that critical capability?
I only once in 300+ hours of flying with the 720 lost GPS signal. It was about, oh, maybe 7 minutes flying under a fully overcast layer....... but waiting for it to come back on seemed longer ;-)
And, at the risk of maybe showing my ignorance, are the Apple built in GPS's WAAS enabled?

FYI, iPad/iPhone GPS's are *not* WAAS enabled.

Re: Differences in GPS reception 720 vs iPad vs Mini?
Not sure about the WAAS feature on the iPad, but I fly with both the 720 and iPad2 in my RV-6A --- I do occasionally lose the 720 signal (with external antenna) but never with the iPad --- as far as the numbers, altitudes, GS, etc., seem to match closely with each other. The iFly app on the iPad is easier to wade through than on the 720, but the screen glare on the iPad is a problem.
