I don't know if this is a good idea or a bad idea. (Like speed dial, it's convenient, but then you forget phone numbers and don't know what to do when speed-dial (or iFly) isn't around.)

Any value in iFly offering custom pop up check lists based on time or distance parameters? For example, I usually do a GUMP check about 5 miles out from my destination airport. (Fixed gear, so it's not as critical nor as repeatable as when flying Retractable.)

But what if I forget? Should iFly offer a feature such that, when you're within x user selectable miles from Destination (like, 2 miles), a one time check box pops up asking if you completed your pre-landing check list? (One time so that it doesn't nag during T'n'G's.)

It would be something like the "Did you close your flight plan?" box that sometimes pops up at the end of a flight.

Currently iFly does show a message on your tablet (when running iFly) after a flight where you filed a Flight Plan thru iFly.

Are you asking for a reminder service after that that Notifies your cell phone? Might be an interesting add-on for iFly.

I assume that there are numerous technical barriers to my request that iFly remind me to close my flight plan. However, I was merely asking the the various options be explored. It's an issue faced every time we file a flight plan.


Before every flight with a flight plan, I currently I simply stick a PostIt note on my car's steering wheel saying CLOSE FLIGHT PLAN. It's an unavoidable reminder that I see after finishing a flight. I'm looking for the electronic equivalent of that reminder. Maybe I need a phone app that tracks my location and sends me a text when I return to a designated location...
