I posted some of these on the general iPad list. I thought I would bring them over here.

So, far I am very happy with the app. I want to keep the 30 day trial through one of the updates to see that work. I am very close to getting a full IFR subscription.

For wishes...

Vector map mode, would be nice to see the location of VORs with ID, just like the airports.

Flight plan page, VOR frequency and the ID would be nice.

That all sounds great. I just siged up for a full IFR subscription. Post info on your web site when you get the Dual ADS-B/GPS units to purchase from Adventure Pilot.

Thanks for the product......

Raymond,

They are in-stock on the store. Below are the direct links to our online store.

DUAL XGPS170 ADS-B - https://ifly.adventurepilot.com/shop-...

DUAL XGPS160 GPS - https://ifly.adventurepilot.com/shop-...

I hope this helps. We'll send out a newsletter next week with them on it. We've tested on the iPad and many Android devices as well. All is good and they are solidly built, affordable ADS-B receivers. Check out the Vision Pro for a Transceiver.

Apparently I am in the minority here but besides the price of the iPad App, I'm not real impressed. Perhaps its because I have used the ForeFlight app for over a year but...I don't think that's the whole story.

First, I don't use the iPad in the cockpit because it's only marginially readable in my 9A when the sun is shining. My iFly 720 is far more readable and I think there's more information available on it, too. Where I do use the iPad extensively is flight planning. Two major shortcomings of the iFly app, imo are:

1. once I've completed a flight plan, I can't up load the plan to the 720. If I could do this via WiFi that would be a HUGE improvement over enter 5 or 10 way points by hand, and

2. The chart coverage is very local. Unlike FF which gives you the whole US seamlessly, I get one chart at a time with the iFly. When it comes to picking a place to land, 3 or 4 charts away, the iFly is seriously handicapped.

Let me assure everyone, I like my iFly 720 and use it every flight - this isn't sour grapes, its about what makes the product useful for me (and since it's my $$, yes, it's all about me<g>). YMMV. I was really hoping there would be a more seamless connection between the app and the iFly 720. Since there isn't, and since flight planning is so much easier in FF, they have my subscription - at least for the time being. In the cockpit, FF stays in my flight bag unless the 720 won't boot...and that hasn't happened for 5 months now.

Hi Don - I don't have an I-pad. I use the Android platform. But I'm sure the I-pad iFly app would have the ability to load as many charts as you need. On the Android app you tap Menu, Check for Updates. This will open the page that will let you add more charts. Just tap the states that you want to load - but first be sure to check the types of charts that you want.

About the ability to down load routes from the tablets to the iFly GPS units - don't throw away your I-pad yet. I'd be very surprised if the IFly development team isn't thinking about this already.
