Thanks Walter,

I was hoping that would be the answer.

How does one go from a 4gb to an 8gb? Can we just buy one and copy the information or is the process more involved?

Walter Boyd wrote:

John, to answer your original question: There is no performance benefit to deleting data from the SD card. The only time this is mandatory is for 700 users with a 4gb card, they may need to remove some data to make room for the new Terrain database. And, when we add WAC charts they will need to decide which data to drop. Or they can move everything to an 8gb card.

Thanks,
Walter

I finally wrote the correct search and found this:

....... And yes, you can use an 8gb SD if you wish...but if you have any problems with your iFly after switching SD cards switch back to the one we provided. Sandisk is a very high quality card, and cheaper cards can cause sporadic problems.

I will buy a new SanDisk and try. The restricted space makes me break up a major update into too many subgroups. It runs out of temproary memory.

I got a 16 gb SanDisk today. It was 1.5 times the price of an 8gb, so I thought better deal. Now I have plenty of room to store PDFs of flight planning as well as all iFly Data. It seems to work good.
