Based upon current legislation and if I am reading things correctly we will all be required to purchase a device that will provide ADS-B out broadcast by the year 2020. As this point I think a few of the newer GPS devices like the Avidyne's replacement for the old 430's and 530's have the ADS-B out built in to them. I kow we have lots of discussion about the ADS-B recievers but how are others here planning to comply wiht the ADS-B out requirements?

I am watching the iFly website and evaluating options that will work with the iFly 700. In the meantime, I will most likely buy a Zaon unit for traffic avoidance and get one of the new Android apps for weather information.

I am totally confused by what all is nedded to meet the requirements. I really want to install an IFR certified GPS but I am leary of the uses 430/530 market because Garmin will probably stop supporting them to push their new units.

Does the Mode S have all the neccessary components or do you also need a gps to provide the information to it.

I think they already have a work around for the L model and 700 so don't give up on that one. I am seriously thinking the Stratus may be the one for me becsuse of the lack of wires, but i have the 720 so that doesn't help you.

Is there any way the Flight Guide iEFB could work with the IFLY 720?

The Radenna SkyRadar seems to fit the bill for ADS-B out functions and it is already approved for use with the iFly 700 and 720. We simply don't have the coverage in Mississippi for the traffic function to do me any good right now and I don't want to spend the money on the ADS-B in equipment right now.
