Here is what the "bank" looked like...I do not have AHRS and did not know what to expect in terms of seeing the roll axis. Pitch and yaw worked perfectly.  My apologies for glare on the screen...we had one Ifly in "normal" mode and the other in split-map + synthetic vision.  I think we are in a right bank here of about 10-15 degrees or so...

Here is what it looked like when I went BELOW surrounding terrain, which is REQUIRED on almost all approaches in this area where I fly a lot...you just get used to it.

Lots of YELLOW and RED on the screen. Looks worse than it really is, but the synthetic vision had it right all day.

Things I found extremely helpful...

1. The line going across the blue for my horizon.

2. The bank indicator, which was right all day and I do not have AHRS (yet). (At least, I do not think so...how would I know for sure?)

3.  The pipper and lines for wings - shows where I am headed with the pitch axis -- I could put that on the runway and fly right to it - NICE.

4. Traffic at 12 o'clock showed up as a red triangle coming right at me on synthetic vision - very cool and helpful.

Things I thought were odd...

1. I flew over a river that did not appear on synthetic vision even though it was on the sectionals of Ifly maps...maybe too small, but I do not think so as it showed up later.

2. Very small private airports show up the same as major airports...just had to get used to it.  Not a problem, just an observation.

3. The yellow lines on the surface of synthetic vision lost their significance to me almost immediately as large highways were the same as small roads.  Major mountains stood out exactly as they were in real life.

4. I did not notice TOWERS anywhere, which would also be helpful for a guy like me who flies most of my flights at 1500 AGL. Perhaps they WERE there if I set it to a different level of view or fidelity...just not sure. I was busy so will look for this next time.

OVERALL: VERY, VERY Pleased with this tremendous effort! Thank you developers, programmers and leadership at IFly for this innovation and improvement for us!

I suspect your Stratux has a AHRS module. Where did you buy it? Pitch and bank are not very reliable without AHRS.

JohnnyBlackCT,

Well, my original purchase was from IFly...but then I somehow corrupted the card with too much data by not shutting it down vis-a-vis the program, but only by pulling power.

Jeff and another helpful gent advised me on the best way to "shut down" the IFly through the program by clearing the memory and turning it off through my tablet, but not before I had to BUY another loaded SD card from Amazon a few months later as I could not clear the original.

Is it possible I have AHRS built into the card, or, is AHRS another piece of hardward that must be installed? Sorry I do not know, but I am sure many on this site do have the right answer.

Here is another photo of a bank to port, with us trying to figure out how the system would react to a turn on the SV.  We were impressed.

In any case, I was getting pitch and roll axis information on my SV yesterday. Could be my control inputs were so minor the system stayed up with me...I did not do any steep turns or climbs/descents of more than 3-4 degrees all day.  I probably should have tested all axis in deliberate maneuvers. Another day!

Thanks for your interest.
