You will need an ADS-B device that includes an AHRS module. Your's may have that, IDK.

Will AHRS really be necessary? In the other synthetic vision modules I've seen in EFBs, AHRS is required for attitude (pitch and bank) but only basic GPS data needed for "flat" synthetic vision.

No, AHRS would not be needed if you only want a flat or nearly flat perspective. The beauty of this thing is with pitch and bank, and that requires AHRS.

Thanks Walter and JB for the education. I have just begun learning the SV on the 740 in simulation. Will be anxious to try it in actual flight without AHRS to see how it responds. Seems "ok" in simulation for pitch and bank.

I had a chance to fly with the BETA version today - very interesting.

For a "first time out" use with almost no idea of what to expect, I found the synthetic vision to be a very helpful asset in mountainous terrain.

This is a visual approach to N13, Bloomsburg, PA, which is adjacent to a river and mountain. This is how it looked for real, synthetically, and on a flat moving map.

VERY COOL! This is going to be a lot of fun to fly with once it is released! Thanks!
