I have been using the 740 for input to my autopilot since last fall, obviously on an earlier revision software. The autopilot has always tracked the magenta line within .01 nm xte, and has turned precisely at each waypoint turn. I have a Trio Avionics ProPilot installed, as a prototype installation on a PA28 as part of an STC submittal for FAA approval. From what I am reading, it appears that the turns to a new waypoint will be a more gradual turn. Right now I believe that my AP is turning at a standard 2 minute turn.

The turns will be 2 minute turns (3 degrees per second). At least, that's the assumption built into iFly GPS. They will start a few seconds before you reach the fix, depending on the angle of turn.

It already works that way. Brian, what will be changed, and why?

That's what it was recently changed to. That's what the current beta does. The turn anticipates a few seconds to "round the corner." It's a standard rate turn.

A bug was introduced in 9.8 that would sometimes prevent the auto-pilot from turning at all.  Prior to that, the transition would happen, but not based on an anticipated 2-minute turn - usually you would overfly the waypoint before it transitioned to the next waypoint, so the turn would generally start late.
