I can not allow my iPad to connect to the 3i before the 3i boots and connects to iFly Android because the 3i will not communicate in open adsb format when it sees the iPad's mac address. I'll get no GPS or adsb on all devices the whole flight if the iPad is detected first by the 3i because it wants to talk to Appareo so badly. So I shut down the Stratus ESG and the iPad, power the stratus ESG, connect to iFly Android and all is well.
The 3i seems to identify the data stream format of the day, then goes with it via wifi to all. I know there was a recent 3i firmware update. I am concerned with the compatibility and why a new firmware was pushed. With the RAIM check missing in iFly and this connection issue, I may be forced to switched apps.
I called iFly's support number only to have the person read me a post I made on this forum weeks earlier to the call. The problem is clearly with the 3i and iFly should issue a notice clarifying the situation. Stratus 3i owners need to complaint to Appario and force warranty returns to made them address this in a firmware update. We gave Appareo way too much money to have a glitch like this.
Bottom line is to connect the iPad only after the ESG GPS lock is made and Android's iFly's GPS is locked and ADSB-IN is tracking. I really enjoy iFly and have learned to live with this quirk.
