Hi all,

I'm kind of stumped.

Last weeki had no problems connecting to the adsb output from the stratus with my iPad or my Android phone. I connected to the WiFi no problem and was seeing traffic.

Fast forward to this week. Neither device is able to sync. Even though the WiFi signal is connected.

I did take some updates this past week, to both devices. So I'm starting to wonder if the issue m might be there.

Others in the club with other systems do not seem to be having any issues

I am open to any suggestions

Keith

Try to download the Stratus Horizon Pro App from the Apple App store, then connect the Stratus to the Apple device you are using, then go into the settings in Stratus Horizon Pro, and set the Stratus to Open ADSB mode.  This should help.

I'm experiencing two things.  First, on occasion, the Stratus 3i will turn Open ADSB off, for some reason.  Not always, but enough that I've noticed on my relatively few flights.

The next is that my Stratus has started NOT automatically turning on with the aircraft power. This seems to have started recently, perhaps since the latest firmware update, but I'm not positive.

iFly WILL connect to the Stratus 3i WiFi, even when the Open ADSB switch is off, you just won't get any ADSB information.

I have the ESG and 3i in my 182.  Last month I flew from Oregon to Cincinnati, OH and back with no issues, using the iFly740B and iPad2, and occasionally connecting with my iPhone 6.

I can not allow my iPad to connect to the 3i before the 3i boots and connects to iFly Android because the 3i will not communicate in open adsb format when it sees the iPad's mac address. I'll get no GPS or adsb on all devices the whole flight if the iPad is detected first by the 3i because it wants to talk to Appareo so badly. So I shut down the Stratus ESG and the iPad, power the stratus ESG, connect to iFly Android and all is well.

The 3i seems to identify the data stream format of the day, then goes with it via wifi to all. I know there was a recent 3i firmware update. I am concerned with the compatibility and why a new firmware was pushed. With the RAIM check missing in iFly and this connection issue, I may be forced to switched apps.

I called iFly's support number only to have the person read me a post I made on this forum weeks earlier to the call. The problem is clearly with the 3i and iFly should issue a notice clarifying the situation. Stratus 3i owners need to complaint to Appario and force warranty returns to made them address this in a firmware update. We gave Appareo way too much money to have a glitch like this.

Bottom line is to connect the iPad only after the ESG GPS lock is made and Android's iFly's GPS is locked and ADSB-IN is tracking. I really enjoy iFly and have learned to live with this quirk.
