Seamless charts are nice but I actually see the full chart as a valuable feature. Many charts on apps are not well joined and have different sized text or objects. I'm not saying don't include it, just have the option to see the surrounding info.

Stuff that I like to have from the legend and surrounding area of the sectional/tac are Class B routing information/ Moa/Prohibited times (I really like to use the chart times not the stuff in the database for restricted areas). Grand Canyon for example has a ton of information on the sidebars that is not in the database. I just flew up there last week and the paper chart was out becuase Garmin Pilot wasn't giving me enough.

Every once and a while you see something weird on the chart like "laser test site" with a crazy symbol and it's nice to have the legend.

Hi Lee - I totally agree with you. And also, how about those times when you want to draw a straight line from one point on one side of a piece of paper to a point on the other side? I go to a sectional chart every time I need to do this. Jim Williams

Seemless charts are great for planning cross-countries that cross multiple sectionals. That 's the only reason I keep FlyQ EFB on the iPad now that iFly is avaliable for it. Once the route and stops are planned, the individual sectionals are less of an issue, but not being able to fly off of one would be nice.

That space/delay is a feature not just of the iPad version.

I don't cross borders between sectionals often enough to remember the proceedure for forcing the shift and thus supressing the annoying blank space and delay. Disconcernting enough when it happens over mild terrain, but I've had it happen just when within seeking distance of an unfamiliar destination airport.
Can only imagine how disconcerting it would be if the crossover happened in some dicy terrain under less than perfect VFR conditions.

Alex,

The terrain would show up beyond the sectional, basically into the border area. I just wanted to let everyone know that terrain and obstacles actually do show beyond the borders and into the chart legends, so you won't miss anything in the transition. You can also simply touch the "Switch Maps" button when approaching the charts edge.

We are working on Seamless Charts and hope to have them release around the Sun 'n Fun timeframe.
