When I first looked at iFly GPS at OSH back in 2012 I thought "Right, don't these morons know they'll be totally eclipsed by the iPad apps ?". Then I started flying in open and canopied Gyroplanes and I realized just how useless my wonderful iPad suddenly was, lots of neat features with Wing X 7 but not a snowballs chance in hell of ever seeing them ! When I saw that iFly had ADS B capabilities now I realized that I was the moron for trying to use iPad for as long as I did !

I would just like to see a synthetic vision attitude indicator along with a split screen navagition page like I liked on the Wing X. Any chance of you guys working that out ? You know Wing X is run by a South African guy - I can't believe a bunch of Texas good ole boys can be outdone by gull dern ferner !!!!

keep up the good work y'all !

Randy,

That is great to hear that you are now a believer in the iFly "dedicated devices". We wanted to get some credibility with our 700, 720 and 520 before looking into the iPad market. It's no secret, the iPad is here to stay, however it just does not work for many pilots as its not bright enough.

Yes, Synthetic Vision and Split Screening is on our internal wish list and we hope release in one of our Software Updates in the near future.

With that said, we also see the time as a huge opportunity to speak to iPad users on our simplicity of use and functionality. We will be offering an iPad App in the coming weeks. The great thing here is you can have an iFly 720 or such as you primary handheld device, then use our iFly GPS for iPad App for just $20 more a year and have a secondary backup, keeping both devices updated on one subscription. Actually, you'll be able to keep up to 3 devices updated for the additional $20 add-on option.

Think of the benefits. Navigate using your Sunlight Readable 720, and for many pilots that already have a iPad, they can now eliminate that expensive FF or WX App and have a no-nonsense, clean and functional backup for only $20 more. All the while both have the same simple-to-use interface.

Stay Tuned.

Ciao,

That is the goal. To have a universal application that will run on our "Dedicated" device as well as many of today's iOS, Android and Windows devices too. "My Choice" might be a stretch, but a good number of them. In today's day and age, it's hard to support everything with all the different versions, firmware and OS versions. However we will definitely go after the key or most common devices for sure. We want to offer the same simple and no nonsense experience to all platforms. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Shan - Be sure to test the iPad and all other tablets in the cockpit close to a working iFly GPS before spending a lot of time on this. I've noticed that if I work with my Asus 8" tablet in my Cessna 172 while flying by my iFly 700, the iFly 700 will lose the GPS signal. Now, I have my iFly mounted on the console between the two front seats. That means that when I work with my tablet, it is only inches away from the iFly. Other than that, I would love to have the iFly program on my tablet. It's a lot better flight planner than the program I have in it now. - Jim Williams
