It seems to me that one layer of menu can be eliminated when switching from Day to Night mode or vice versa. Since there are only 2 states, this really is just a toggle, so the last sub-menu is not needed. From the main Mode menu, when you pick "Day/Night Mode", the screen should just toggle to the other state, thereby eliminating having to select another item from another menu. Less time spent on device menus is more time with your eyes outside of the cockpit (or on the instruments, if you are IFR).

Thanks for a great device!

Richard,

Agree'd on the Day/Night Toggle. The main reason there is a Day/Night option is that when we were building that menu, we knew that we will be adding an Auto in the future. In a future update, we would like to put an auto option so that it will switch day and night mode based on location and time.

Additional, we are in the process of streamlining the menu and setup options. With all the new features we have added, we would like to streamline the UI. Each time we add a new feature or enhancement, we put a lot of time and effort into making sure the pilot can "get into, get the needed info and get back to flying". We should always be a tool, not a distraction.

Thanks for the great feedback.

Shane,

Can you tell us the status on these 2 update ideas? It seems like I need to change the day/night mode every third-forth time I fly so streamlining the function with an auto mode would be great.

Personal opinion here, but don't make the toggle too easy (e.g flip-flop toggle with no confirmation). I've hit it inadvertenly a couple of times in turbulence as is and ended up with a very dark screen in bright sunlight on which you can't see anything and therefore can't toggle back without a re-boot! Just my 2c.

I do like the auto-option idea.
