With the discussion here about AutoZoom, I decided to try AutoTaxi+ again, to see what I might be missing.

I kinda like AutoTaxi+, but I disable it because it keeps "falsing" on me. Here's the scenario:

I'm at my home airport. (So I know my way around.) When I start up iFly, it jumps to the Airport Diagram.

That's fine, but even after I dismiss it and go back to the map while taxiing (perhaps to mentally review my initial heading/TCA floors/NEXRAD, etc.) AutoTaxi+ keeps popping back up. (IIRC, same I think after I'm done with my run-up and moving up to the Hold line. It sees movement and goes to the Diagram.) Once I've dismissed the Diagram, I would like it to stay dismissed until iFly sees that I've taken off until my next landing. (Perhaps it waits both airspeed and 400 feet before it auto-reenables?)

That's my biggest problem with it.

Similarly, if I recall correctly (and I might not) - I had it enabled while practicing Instrument Approaches once. I seem to recall that it went to the Airport Diagram while I was on the Missed. (I don't recall for sure - will try it in a few days when I shoot some approaches.) Naturally I don't want it changing to the Airport Diagram until I am firmly on the ground and stopped.

I haven't tried T'N'G's with AutoTaxi+ on. Does it switch then? If so, perhaps a time delay of 20 seconds where GPS GS is less than 10 knots? (Although I don't need to look at iFly while I'm doing T'N'G's per se, I like it to stay in the map mode so that I can see traffic via Stratux.)

I think iFly has a "transition speed" that it uses to differentiate between "on ground" and "airborne". I want to say that's 70kts (or maybe 50kts?). It might even be user-settable somewhere.

The feature uses a speed other than zero, because users who like the feature use it while taxiing.

Depending on the speed it uses, it's possible that with a good headwind and flaps deployed, you might reach a groundspeed below the threshold so that iFly thinks you're rolling on the ground instead of slowly climbing out on a missed approach.

I'm recalling that the transition speed is either 20 or 30 kn, so I doubt that slow flight would trigger the airport diagram to display because of that. i did a quick search for that speed but couldn't find it, so it sounds like a Brian question.

@Cobra - if there's a user settable setting to trigger AutoTaxi+, I haven't seen it.

@greg p - It might be as low as 10 or 20 kts. Admittedly we taxi WAY too fast in the Glasair. (10 to 15 kts+. Can't help it. It just rolls that fast with the engine at idle, and don't want to drag brakes for a mile to the runway.) Perhaps I cross the trigger setting, and then, when we're slowing down for the run-up area, iFly sees that as a "landing" and re-triggers AutoTaxi+?

The Flight Timer is very accurate for when we take off. (I start the timer on the ADF on the roll.) So whatever trigger the Flight Timer uses is good. I wonder aloud if that is the same trigger used for AutoTaxi+?

It's basically 35kts for a Transition Speed, plus some AGL logic. Basically, upon takeoff, once over 35kts it triggers "Last Known Chart Mode... (ie. SEC or TAC). Likewise if you are landing and fall below 35kts, it will trigger AutoTaxi + (Taxi Diagram or Realview), but only if within 200ft of AGL. Those are the basics of it.
