Walter, I went and d-load 9.3.12b then I saw that the 700 is not on the list for the' two fingers thingie', but at least I can find a distance without having to pan with the distance ring, and that can be a chore specialy in turbulences.
maybe one day i will sacrifice some flying hours to fork for a .....799

Ciao

I should have know better with the two finger function, seeing that ErgoMike's picture is of an Android device.

=======

I should have thought that the 740 was not a multi-touch device. :-)

I seldom need to measure between two points where "I'm not one of them". To measure distance from me to something/where the dynamic distance circles work great. Not sure why I'd need another measurement tool?

Alasdair - I use the measuring tool all the time. i.e. - (1) When I'm stopping for lunch -How far is the town from the airport? (2) When I'm crossing the Great Salt Lake - How far is it from shore A to shore B? (My plane goes around 120kts so it's an easy calculation to know how long I'll be over the water. (3) When wakening up passengers - "You can see Mount Rushmore off of our right wing tip. If you look about seven miles south of that you can see Crazy Horse" Etc. Etc. - Jim Williams
