IIRC, we added leading Zeros to Bearing and Course Instrument a while ago. Request same for Winds aloft (indeed, all fields that can have 3 digits). Here's a screen shot showing only two. FSS printouts show leading Zero, and winds are given to us verbally with leading Zero's.

Agree. All winds should be three digits. Always.

Short, embarrassing story: The Garmin G1000 omits the leading zero as well. I was flying with an ATP friend in the right seat and he pulled up a field METAR on the G1000. We both saw the two-digit wind number and somehow mentally added a zero at the end. Kind of like taking it as a runway number. We landed uneventfully with a moderate tailwind. Used lots of runway though.

Pilot error? Of course. But I also consider it to be a UI fault.

I like three digits. Keep number format the same as much as possible is my rule. Runway 02 and it's reciprocal 20 would be less confusing if they were call 020 and 200 I think. It's not that I have a large left brain - it's just that I have a small right brain. - Jim Williams

We'll change Winds Aloft to show 3 digits. That's what we do already for degree readouts in our instruments. Runway numbers however are actual IDs, and used for communication - I don't think we should change those. We are adding wind flags to the thumbnail, which should help in selecting the best runway.

Definitely do not change runways. They need to be shown as what they are, ie. RW 02 and RW 20.
