Hi iFly!
I like the wind direction shown for airports on the weather screen. However, I find that the length of the line to indicate wind speed to be difficult to interpret - especially when there is a strong wind. Have you considered using the somewhat standard "flag" method? That is, keep the line relatively short and then use flags and half-flags to show 5 mile increments of wind speed.
Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Dick
In that the Wind is only shown for those airports that have WEATHER REPORTING, it seems a bit redundant to me.
but the Weather View is not really cluttered I suggest one line length and the value in numerals.
Show Gusts?
Jim, I like your idea of showing the actual wind direction and speed numbers as well as a the line. I like the line since it provides a visiual confirmation of the wind direction relative to the runway(s).
This might be pushing it a bit with our limited screen real estate, but it might be nice to also show the relevant components of crosswind as needed. Maybe a user settable value to trigger when for it to show up, like say wind above 7 kts or 12 orwhat have you. Computation requirements are trivial.
