DM,

Take a look at the iLevil and the Clarity. They will offer ADSB WX and Traffic. Just keep in mind that unless you get an ADSB in/out or Transceiver, your traffic will be very limited. NavWorx makes a nice transceiver, the ADS-600B. I'd consider it more semi-portable. We are also working with FreeFlight as they have the Ranger and Xplorer. Stay tuned to this market, it's moving.

Adventure Pilot did say earlier that the traffic input from the Skyradar-L would be fixed (providing both weather and traffic). Please let us know if this is still true. Which version of the iFly 700 or date would that be in? Thanks,

S. Morgan

Hi Shane and all interested in this topic.

Your last post was months ago, which in this world on the edge of avionic is as you say "evolving and moving very quickly" a long time.

Any new developments on what the ADS-B iFly compatible options are?

And as one iFlier put it, if you mention brands/models could you possible put even rough approximate prices next to them. As the asker said , for some of us seeing the price next to certain models could put them for some of us quickly OFF our short lists and save us doing the detailed reseach and comparision on those.

Thanks for your time and help.

Alex

Alex,

I guess I'm confused. I just posted 5 days ago about the iLevil and Clarity. They do not have units for us to test yet, so we are just waiting on them at this point. We coded and integrated to their software and specs. The final test will be the physical device to device connection and test. Clarity is scheduled to release just before Sun n Fun and iLevil is finishing production at this time.

I'm not comfortable quoting their prices until the have them ironed out and each will likely have a special. Their own websites will be the best source for prices and availability.

As far as ADS-B goes, I think we are waiting on them at this point. Unfortunately we can't rush them along, I speak with most of the companies each week or so to see when we can expect test devices. Unfortunately, I don't have any new news to report at this I regards to new ADS-B devices. This is kinda the lull before the SnF storm. Have a great weekend.

Thank you Shane! I'm gonna hold out until the market turns up something newer. With a near miss of a 172 (converging going the opposite direction)....well uh, I sure as heck don't wanna wait to much longer! This should be top priority...for everyone.

I agree. However, keep in mind ADS-B traffic is very limited at this time. Even with a ADS-B transceiver, you won't see everything. You should check out something called PowerFlarm. It's a mix of Mode C, Mode S, ADS-B and Flarm (air-to-air, common is gliders).

I think Zaon is working on a Multi-Platform PCAS/ADS-B unit.

As we get closer to 2020 or there gets many more aircraft with ADS-B in/out, the in-air network will get better. ADS-B is really most beneficial for Weather at this time.
