Anyone Help!!

Trying to get X-Plane 9.xx to work with my iFly 720......

I purchased the serial cable from iFly and a null modem cable and usb short cable from another vendor but no joy! The cable worked for about 5 minutes yesterday (took repeated reboots to get it to work) but I can not get it to function again today. It seems to forget it is installed but when looking at devices and printers in windows 7 it says working correctly and is identified as serial port 3.

On the i-Fly I see "external GPS manager" when checking serial port connections but it is not updating to current location or flight data per X-Plane.

Using serial port 3, refresh 3 times per second, plugged in and booted up X-Plane first then connected to iFly 720....

I am perplexed, has anyone experienced this issue?

Thanks to anyone for suggestions.

Paul

It's hard to say where the link is broke. The x-plane COM settings would be my first guess. Win 7 can change the COM port number on you, so make sure that is still COM3.

Thanks Walter,

For the current settings I am using port 2 per windows. My null modedm adapter is a cable about 3' long could the cable length affect the signal? I have checked and it is a null modem cable. I needed the length to allow positioning of the i-Fly on the desk by my sim monitor and yoke.

Thanks again as I know this is not your hardware....

Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year to you all!

Cable length should be fine. My next debugging step would be to plug into another computer instead of the iFly, run an app like HyperTerminal, and see what's being sent through that cable. (Or you could plug into another USB on the same computer, but then you gotta make sure you're not mixing up the com ports).
