Hi Walter,

I did speak to Ed and he is sending me an SD card with the latest OS. Mine was not the latest as my unit was one of the earlier 720 models. I hope to get it soon. i will keep you posted.

Regards,

Jim

At the Monmouth, Illinois, AmericInn I found I could not update my 720 with the hotel wifi. A browser looking application page would come up on the iFly but no buttons, no prompts for anything. Using a PC you can get out to the internet ok, no login or portal page is presented. I was finally able to update the SD card using the PC and the iFly update software.

thammer,

Some hotels use a web redirect, where you have to agree to terms of use, etc. Then the network connection is opened. In this scenario, the iFly GPS will pop up a Internet Explorer window to acknowledge the Terms of the Hotel. Then it will go away and allow you to use the iFly Opera Browser to hit the internet or use the Update button should work. Opera does not support the web redirect scenario, so we pop the IE window for the Agreement process.

Hope this helps.

I'm not a huge fan of IE, but Opera also seems to have its share of issues. Out of curiousity, could you explain why Opera is the only browser accessible to the user if IE is also loaded? (I'm sure you have good reasons...just curious what they are.)

Simply because the CE version Internet Explorer is not very good. Even though Opera isn't as good as a full blown desktop browser, it's hands down easier to use and more compatible than IE.
