In version 5, coming soon, we've implemented some smarter logic for switching sectional maps. In a nutshell, the system is now aware of which area of a sectional chart has map vs. legend, and it will make better default sectional map selections. And you shouldn't find yourself flying on legend data any more.

It's not a seamless chart, but this should improve things for those of you on the boarder areas.

I found this thread and was wondering whatever happened to the idea of seamless sectionals... sure would be great!

How about when we want to look at the legend?

Hey everyone,

The stitched charts or sectionals is something we are looking into. When we attended the FAA meetings last year, they were not fond of clipping the legends to allow stitching the charts together. We are looking into some ideas and concepts but there may be a possibility of stitched w/ Legend underlays and the traditional that you have now. This would allow for a stitched view without loosing the key and legend. There is allot of valuable information in the legend. More to come.

No commitments or time line of this, but it is on our radar. Hope this helps.

I noticed that SkyVector has a chart called a World VFR. As near as I can tell, it is a sectional that literally covers the entire world. There are also World Hi and Lo charts as well.
