Getting ready to fly tonight, and just updated charts and weather. Powered up my iFly 700, loaded all updates, and input my flight plan. Even thought I'd already gotten a weather brief, I went and looked at the Wx info for my home drome just to make sure it jibed.

First oddity was that there was no TAF for the field, when there always is.

Second oddity was that the METARs were time-stamped "--1497500 mins" ago.

Went to the Menu>About>GPS Information page, and 8 sats are in view with an Excellent position accuracy.

Exited to the system menu, and the green time/date in the lower right corner is reading "2009/02/14 SAT 06:36 PM".

Did a GPS reset thinking that might cause the time to reset, but it didn't. Also tried a power cycle, but no joy.

This is the first time I've had (or at least noticed) this problem. What gives??

My OS is 2.0.4--I updated to that just a couple of months ago to get the SkyRadar to work. I'm also running the current application version off the website.

I know the time has been "better" than this under the current OS + app version, because the first time I got the SkyRadar working in the air, I noticed that current METARs received via ADSB were reported by the iFly as ~300 minutes old, which was the delta between CDT and GMT. Now,like I said above, they're being reported as almost three years in the future.

So I plugged in my iFly 700 this morning, then went downstairs for a cup of coffee. Came back 30 min later, and exited to the main menu, and the system time is accurate.

How long should it take after a GPS fix is established before the time updates correctly? When I was having problems the other day, I let the unit run "unmolested" after achieving a GPS fix for at least 15 minutes at one stretch, among the various attempts to reboot, restart the GPS subsystem, etc.

Maybe there's a race or edge condition that causes the time update to fail on rare occasions? (I had just performed a chart and weather update when I noticed the problem last time. Don't know what the time said before the update began; I first noticed the problem after the unit rebooted following the update.)

Cobra,

I think you're on to something here. Seems intermittent as only a few times did I notice the time was incorrect. If I booted up, then went into the Nav, exited and came back shortly ofter it would be correct, but sometimes it had not updated. I'll talk with Walter and well see if we can dig into this.

I am having the same issue. The time on my unit shows 02/20/2009 and the wrong hour, however the minutes are correct. Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated.
