Hi Walter,

I just installed 6.5.7 and I'm sorry to report that, at least on my trusty '700, the data output cycles on and off about every 20 seconds and is therefore useless. Even when it cycles on the course information is missing most of the time. I then rebooted with 6.0.8 and as usual everything is OK with the NMEA output.

David, try 6.5.9 - fixed that problem.

Alasdair, try the new beta version I just put up - I'm hopeful it will correct your NMEA problem.

Roger that, it's already downloaded! I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks Walter,

David

Hi Walter,

I just gave 6.5.9 a try, and again no joy with my '700. The behavior was the same as before with 6.5.8, the data output cycling on and off about every 20 to 30 seconds, with no course info.

David,

Very strange. The code for handling NMEA output for the 700 is almost identical between 6.0.8 and 6.5.9. And we've been running this without fail in our test jig for several hours. Couple of questions: What is your OS version? (System Menu / Config / System...then read the number next to "OS"). Also, when you switch back to 6.0.8 are you swaping out the SD card? If so, there's a chance the settings are different - please verify your NMEA settings are the same in both versions. Finally, what do you have selected in the "Load Prolific Drivers at Startup" option? Can you try changing that setting and rebooting your device?

Thanks,
Walter
