I just purchased my IFLY 700 several months back. My understanding at that time was the updates would keep the unit from becoming obsolete. Now I read that the IFLY 720 is available with a trade in program. During the months I have had the 700, I have not used it more than 6 times as I do not have the opportunity to fly as much as I would like.

My question is will the updates still continue to keep the IFLY 700 updated so it does not become obsolete as was originally planned? The 720 with brighter screen and WiFi does not mean that much to me. Continued updates for ADS-B compatability for different systems does, as well as other future systems regarding traffic and weather etc. This assumes continued software updates as required.

Use of the unit over the short time I have had it has been great. Does everything I need and more at this time. I would really hate to see this unit become obsolete so quickly.

The iFly 700 will stay in the line as a current product and continue to be developed as well as receive new features via software updates. For axample, we will be adding Terrain, Obstructions, Vertical Flight Planning, Portrait Mode and many more small enhancement ot the iFly 700 later this spring in our Version 7 Software Update. The new iFly 720 is an additional to the line at a higher price-point and adds premium features. It's just an additional device in the line up for pilots wanting a more advanced device with sunlight readbility.

I hope this helps explain this scenario. Companies in todays world sunset devices to drives sales to the new device, we however are keeping both the 700 and 720 as we move forward. There are no current plans to sunset the 700. This also helps keep the used market value up on the 700 as it is still a current and fully supported and developed device. Please continue to use with confidence.

Thanks for your quick reply Shane. I am glad to know that the 700 will continue to be updated as I have told many pilot friends to take a look at one as I felt it was a feature packed unit for a great price.
