Avionics Master Switch??

Wondering if the iFly should be on an Avionics Master Switch to protect it during engine start? The possible power surges during start have fried more than a few electronics, and it's often recommended to have the avionics OFF during start.

I'm working on the panel/aircraft wiring on my wife's Avid, and will treat the iFly, and Micro Air radio and transponder to their own master switch.

You mentioned "if hardwired." Is there surge protection in the power plug?

There is not built in surge protection. If wiring to your panel, I suggest you put it behind an avionics master so you can turn it off during aircraft startup/shutdown.
