My new 740 seems to have a lot of reflection in the screen. I note you no longer carry screen protectors. Do you have any recommendations for a screen protector or is there any problem with using them? I don't want to just go out and get one if you see a problem or there are any issues with using them.

Bob,

While we don't currently offer screen protectors for the iFly 740 yet, there are several great options out there. With the introduction of the 720 and now the 740, we have not had much demand for the anti-glare screen protectors. We'll continue to monitor that demand, however in the meantime you might check out the below options.

BodyGuardz makes a great HD Screen Protector that you can specify the size 6" x 3.375". This is who we chose to make our first dedicated screen protector for the 700 and 720. We know that his film does not affect the touch sensitivity and offers a matte finish. www.bodyguardz.com

Another option is Nushield makes a custom sized Anti-Glare, Anti-Fingerprint, Daylight View screen protector that I've used on my iPad and it works great. It is however glossy, but it cuts glare, UV and is super durable. This is a thicker film and has not been tested on the 740, however has worked on the 700 and 720s so there is likely no issue. They have offered a custom cut option on there site for a while that you could specify the actual screen dimensions of 6" x 3.375". www.nushield.com

Finally, you could could get a matte screen protector for a Nook, iPad or etc and cut it your self the above dimensions. You will likely get a air pocket on the edge, that may lay down over time. This is due to cutting and slightly bending the film. Do not use scissors, try a very sharp exacto blade on a glass or hard surface to reduce film flex. I've personally use the Nook matte protector and it works very well in sunlight as they claim it is specially designed to help the Nook in bright conditions.

There are many options out there to custom cut, these are just a few that we've had good success stories with. Feel free to post any others for fellow pilots to benefit from. As I said, we'll monitor demand and look at offering another protector in the future. I hope this helps.

I measured and cut my own screen protector using an Xacto knife from a sheet of this:

http://www.amazon.com/Splash-MASQUE-Protector-INVISIBLE-SPLIPD2-CLR/dp/B006P4DI5E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427287903&sr=8-1&keywords=splash+masque+screen

Although made for the ipad, it works great on my 740. I went with the matte finish. A small can of compressed air helps in keeping the dust away while it is applied.

Shane,

I contacted BodyGardz to get a custom cut screen protector (had one on my 720 and it worked great!) but they told me that the max allowable dimension for a custom cut was 140 mm, which is of course, too short! However, I think I went about it wrong in that I did not simply ask if they already had the 6" x 3.375" in-stock for some other device.

I had also previously used a NuShield DayVue protector and was similarly pleased, so I called them and spoke to Mark at Extension 700. I gave him the exact, no-clearance screen dimensions (88 x 155 mm) and he said the DayVue film for a 2010 Audi A6 auto would have the correct dimensions (86 x 152 mm), this is NuShield # NU369A - $18 plus shipping. He had me just go ahead and order on-line for the Audi protector and remark in the comments box that I would actually be using it on the iFly 740.

I'm going to try the DayVue on the iFly 740 and see how it works. I'll post a follow-up.

John
