Hi Shane,
I just received my 720 today (that was sent on Monday) and I've had a chance to compare the screen brightness with my 700 before returning the 700. You may recall I mentioned on the phone that I was never bothered by the 700 screen not being bright enough, but I was somewhat bothered by it not getting dim enough in night mode at the lowest setting (for sectional maps). What I have found, in a direct comparison of the two units, is that the 720 cannot get as dim as the 700 can get. Walter had suggested a couple years ago (for my 700) that I just turn the screen off, and this was a reasonable work-around for me. But, with the 720 being brighter than the 700 at the dimmest night setting, I'm not sure I would really want to turn it on after my eyes had become fairly dark-adjusted. I also noticed that the 700 had one more increment of brightness adjustment than the 720 does (had them both up and running side by side and using the remote to change both at the same time). I know you have responded to the majority of owners that wanted a brighter screen, but I'm one of the few (with a high wing and my unit on the yoke) that was never hindered by the 700 being too dim; its brightness was never an issue even on bright days for me. Walter mentioned that hardware issues are involved, but is there anything that can be done so that the 720 can be made at least as dim as the 700 gets in night mode?
