I've been thinking about getting an iPad mini now that the Adventure Pilot app is available. However, I was just reading about the iFly 720 browser. My question is: Can a person use the browser built into the 720 to visit various websites on the web using the wi fi capability? Example: Can I log into the vansairforce.net forum or Barnstormers, etc.

Also, if this is possible, is there provision to save websites (favorites)?

Thanks, Jim

Jim,

Yes, the iFly 720 browser will access other sites and let you log in to sites like Vansairforce, etc. I will tell you it is a "Mini" or "Mobile" style browser so it is not going to be as robust as the iPad "Safari" web browser. Will it typically do what you want? Yes. Will there be some frustration along the way when browsing? Yes. Keep in mind it is a Aviation GPS first and foremost.

Finally, yes it will allow you to save some favorites or quick access sites in a tile manner on the start up page. I think Google, BBC and another is defualted. I hope this helps.

Yes that's just what I wanted to know. That might be just what I want. I've got a good desktop and laptop for computing, so just want to have something for minimal browsing (like I would do on my iPhone). The advantage being the better screen on the 720.

Thanks, Jim

Jim, You might want to take Shane's comment about the iFly being primarily an aviation product a bit more to heart. His suggestion that it will be frustrating to use as a browser may be a bit understated. I would sooner use my iPhone to browse the web than I would my iFly 720. If you can find someone with a 720 near you, try it out as a browser before you plunk your money down with any intention of using it to browse the web. I'm not knocking the unit - its nice in the air and its a good value. But the browser feature is more in the category of - it possible to do it as a last resort. The 720 really isn't a substitute for an iPad or a computer and conversely, the iPad isn't a substitute for the 720.
