I was using my 720 today. It worked as normal on the way out to a far off new destination. After having breakfast and returning to the plane the 720 only had the left side of the screen functioning properly. The right side was black and blank. The touch function was still functioning on the right side and I was able to limp home by dragging the screen content onto the left side of the screen. But I could not use the on-screen keyboard and was lucky to have a loadable flight plan that had my home destination as the target.

When I got back, I took the GPS with me and fired it up on the AC adapter... and everything was working again. What's going on here. I have a backup old GPS but it was not in the plane. I now realize how much I depend on the 720 and will now carry a complete backup GPS and accessories package in the plane.

Thats wild... I had the same problem 2 days ago... I let it cool down or reset for an hour or so and everything worked normally.

I thought it might have been something that I did.

The 720 was mounted above the panel in strong direct sun for about 45 minutes. The panel is black wrinkle paint coated and the top is almost black vinyl. Perhaps it is a high temp issue? I thought it might be 12V adapter vs. AC adapter, but if our experiences are related, it has more to due with heat.

I need the hardware of the 720 to be reliable. I will be on the iFly support line first thing on Monday.

That was the first glitch that I have had in over 3 years - I don't believe that it is heat related. I had just flown, shutdown and was powering up approx 15 min later, the aircraft being parked in the shade. After flying approx. 15 min. with the power disconnected, the power plug was reinstalled - no issues since.

I had a similar event happen on June 20. After fueling up I started to taxi out, and turned on power to the IFLY. I was presented with a white screen that immediately went to black. Disconnecting power and then plugging back in initiated a blank stripped screen. I took the IFLY from the plane into the FBO and plugged in with the wall adapter, but no change. The IFLY was in the aircraft for approximately 20 minutes with the sliding cockpit open, but it was sunny. However, it was only 9:30am. After having the IFLY in the FBO for an hour, there was no change in the screen. I stowed the IFLY and flew on to my destination. Later that evening I plugged in the power, and the screen came up normally. When I departed 3 days later, the IFLY functioned normally. I have contributed the glitch to heat, even though the temperature on the tarmac was not much hotter than the previous 1.5 hour flight. Has the company responded to anyone about this issue?
