Jim,

I've asked Alexey for a D2 model to retest. We no longer have one of the dual band units here from SkyRadar. We have several other dual band units from other makers and we are seeing the 1090 traffic on those. I was talking with Walter and he said he thinks SkyRadar is doing something different with the 1090 decoding, basically different than the standard GDL90 protocol. Once we get the D2 from Alexi, we'll see what is going on.

You are correct in that the ADS-B out should wake up the tower. If you are in range of the 978 ground tower and your "out" device has triggered it, you should be seeing both 978 and 1090 traffic in your service volume via the ground signal. The way to tell is if you see a callsign or tail number on that traffic, it is direct air to air. If the tail number is a N number it's most likely oui out. If it is AA or UA or commercial, then you can bet it's 1090.

We will get this worked out and thanks for your help with this.

Sounds good, I may shoot you an email, if Alexey doesn't get one here soon. I can tes tthe Single or L Model, but not the D2. We have other Dual Band receivers that are working well, but I suspect and Walter mentioned that SkyRadar is doing things just a little different on the 1090 stream. I'll keep you posted and let you konw if we need you D2 for testing.

Shane,

It looks like the ifly is not decoding ANY tis-b traffic. Flying into DFW with adsb out this weekend there were hundreds of planes shown on wingx. All this was TIS-B traffic from the ADS-R(rebroadcast) on 978. Besides the weather, there was no traffic ever shown on the ifly.

That is something to look into, but I've run test with the iLevil, Clarity and even others and saw the ground TIS-B, yet with the SkyRadar D2, it seems to be nothing. I can connect a Single Band SkyRadar to the iFly and the SkyRadar App and see the same traffic, even around DFW. But with the D2, it apparently is not there.

Walter is looking in to some additional data and sample data that SkyRadar just sent us so hopefully, we will get to the bottom of this. I'll pass this along so they can look at all aspects and the more information the better when it comes to troubleshooting.

Any update for this for the Skyradar L? No traffic for me with iFly 700 even when near airplanes with ADSB Out.
