Can someone explain use of the dynamic distance ring? The supplemental update on the latest version says "you can determine the relative distance to any object you put the ring on." How do you expand the ring to touch the object? What is the purpose of the ring turning aqua color and expanding when the screen is panned?

Thanks,

John

As you pan the view away from "follow plane", when you pan far enough for the airplane icon to reach the edge of the screen or off the screen, the dynamic distance ring turns aqua (it turns aqua when it becomes dynamic), the distance marker of the ring will show how far your airplane is from the aqua ring. Place the ring (the part of the arc of the ring you see) over an airport, city, navaid etc and the distance marker will show distance; you to that arc.
I've learned to like it better than the fixed rings as you don't have to estimate off the fixed rings.
Hope that helps, and is accurate!

Wouldn't it be much simpler to be able to touch a point, and when the options button pops up, display the distance alongside of the button? That way, it's just one touch rather than panning and disturbing the entire map view. Just a suggestion!

John,

It should already do this. Pan over and touch and airport. Look in the Context box next to the Option's button. You should see a distance, that is the distance from your location to that touch point. Hope this helps.
