New to iFly. Have a subscription on my too small Android phone but I'm looking to buy a Galaxy Tab. Saw the recommended Samsungs on the iFly website but the Tab A wasn't listed. This will be my first tablet and I don't understand all the differences in the Samsung lineup. Just need a wifi version so can anyone tell if the Tab A works with iFly ?

I'm not aware of a mainstream Android tablet that doesn't work with iFly. I've used a Galaxy Tab 7 2.0 with success. My advice from experience is to make sure the tablet will fit/mount where you want it, and is darn near sunlight readable and relatively glare free. I had a 10" tablet that just wouldn't go anywhere in the Mooney, but the 7" Tab and current 8" LG fit nicely on the yoke without blocking the view of the panel. Good luck.

The Tab A is no slouch of a tablet, but is definately a lower end model from Samsung. It's biggest drawback is TFT display and lower resolution. This will have an impact on bright sunny days and on old feeble eyes.

If you can afford it go with a S2. You dont need the 10" (imho). If the S2 is out of budget, look for a S. Tab S 8.4 is perfect, has a good screen, good battery, runs fast, and fits nicely almost anywhere in the cockpit, although It did block the panel when I put it on the yoke in my 210. Mine mounts to the front windscreen on the far left.

In any case, get a micro sd card to put the data on, this way you dont need to buy the more expensive higher memory models. 16G suits just fine with a 128g external sd card.

I don't get what my signature is supposed to mean, I'm not famous, I'm not a star and we certainly aren't married.

Thanks for the great helpful info. Don't have a lot of room so planning on the 7" or 8". Mostly flying high wing fabric covered aircraft these days.

I've had really good results running a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with iFly. Very bright screen (even for my aging eyes) and no problems running iFly at all.

Our suggestiion - go big unless you're eyes are <50 years old. If you're not 50 yet, you'll understand one day....

FWIW, Samsung and Huawei are coming out with new 8" tablets rather soon, if not immediately. You might want to consider looking at the newest offerings coming to market.

We have our 8" tablet placed above our avionics stack (removed the DME) and it fits just fine in our Cardinal. Prior to the avionics reshufflling, we used a RAM mount on the windscreen.
