How do I -- start simulation mode using a flight plan? Is it possible to watch it from takioff/climb to desired altitude and watch it through to landing, including turns and etc?

Thanks.

Simulation mode is a manual thing. You have to tell it what to do using the controls. You can start this mode with "Menu => About => Simulation Mode". It'll start you out wherever you have "center of screen" to start with.

Once you are in Simulation mode, you can then select "History => Past Flight Trail" and select one... this then kicks you into "replay mode" which is sorta neat, as it'll automatically replay the flight trail, and the SIM control speed arrows then are used to alter the Playback speed, and the down arrow will even do a rewind.

I hope this feature suffices for you.

I was hoping to sim a route I've not yet flown. Is that possible?

Yes, but it's manual. Make your flight plan. Then zoom into the departure airport, and pan the center of your screen to the exactly location where you'd like to start your simulation... e.g. on the runway.

Then select Menu => About => Start Simulation. Then use the controls to fly the route. That's the best we've got right now. It's designed to roughly emulate the flying experience, where you follow the plan, and get back the warnings/notifications/feedback the same as if you were flying it for real.

But I like your idea of just having iFly auto-pilot the whole route as defined by your Aircraft Profile and Flight Plan. That would be a neat feature enhancement.

There are several reasons I'd like to do this, The primary one is picking altitudes where I avoid airspace conflicts while flying high enough to always stay in range of an airport should the engine fail. IFly is pretty good at that.

I don't know what "flight" controls I have in sim mode. Is this a new thing?
