Please center the map at your desired starting location, and then select "Menu => About => Start Simulation". This'll pop the SIM controls so that you can see them -- Faster/slower, Climb/Descend, and Turning. I hope you find it sufficiently useful.

There are several reasons I'd like to do this, The primary one is picking altitudes where I avoid airspace conflicts while flying high enough to always stay in range of an airport should the engine fail. IFly is pretty good at that.

I don't know what "flight" controls I have in sim mode. Is this a new thing?

You really don't need to use the simulator mode to do what you want. Just put in a flight plan and then do the altitude planning. If you get too far away from airports, rubber band your route.

OldPilot, I don't have an intuitive feel for engine-out glide distances, especially on an airplane I've never flown before. Hence (like that word?) the desire to do it mathematically and display results in graphical form (via iFly.) Assuming the glide radio I've been given is correct.

I don't fool with the simulator often, but after reading your posts, I flew it from KGVL to KIPJ and shot the RNAV to RW05 and stopped here. I flew at 250k most of the way.

OldPilot, excellent screen shot there.
