I just installed 8.1.51b with landscape mode. Thanks for that, it looks great. IMHO, it would be MUCH better if you could switch back and forth simply by rotating your tablet. Many times, it's just a function of your heading which one you want to see. Thanks.

Jim,

We have rotation detection on our wishlist, so you can expect to see something like this in a future release.

Thanks!

Rotation detection would be fine when using the unit for planning purposes, but once in the airplane I would want the rotation locked which I can do with the Nexus easy enough.

Actually, some would want it locked, others not. If you use north up and turn from a heading of north to east or west, it's nice to be able to just rotate your tablet and have the map switch from portrait to landscape. I have a homemade knee board with a rotating case for my Nexus 7 and Asus TF700 and they work great with other apps.

I'm a bit mystified by this 'tablet rotation' discussion. I've never tried steep turns with any of my tablets nor am I anything of an electronic engineer, but, I would have thought that the sensor for rotation in a tablet would be based on gravity. So, my question is, will the screen rotate even if you keep the ball centered? - Jim Williams
