If you keep the ball centered, there is no reason it would switch, if it works with gravity. I've never had mine switch unless I rotated the tablet and momentarily lifted the top end. I just purchased a RAM mount, and I hope to mount it where there is room to rotate between portrait and landscape.

A lot of guys put their tablet on the yoke...then you really want it locked!

I just tested this with my Nexus 7 and another app. I had to rotate the tablet well past 45 degrees before it switched. It was probably close to 70 degrees. So, if this in indicative, you would have to rotate the yoke about 70 degrees right or left of the planes axis. That's not going to happen in flight, but might on the ground. I really this it's a non-issue.

Jim,

Tablet rotation is typically based on the internal gyrometers. If not locked, you would rotate the tablet beyond 90 degrees for most tablets and auto-rotate feature of Android switches from landscape to portrait, or visa versa. This is a bad scenario for yoke mounted tablets, even if you put it on a yoke and do a steep coordinated turn "ball in the center", the tablet would still rotate the screen.

I think have a floating button to appear to confirm screen orientation upon rotating the actual tablet would be a best default. Maybe an option in Screen Settings there could be an option to "Allow Auto-Orientation". Just a thought.

Maybe. I've never used a yoke mount. All I know is my tablet has NEVER rotated using a kneeboard except when I rotated the tablet and raised the forward end for a second or two. That's in a couple years flying with another app that has both portrait and landscape and using a Nexus 7 and Asus TF700. There are Android apps you can us to lock your screen if it's a problem.
