I replaced my 740 with a 740b due to a broken circuit board.  Since using the 740b I continually get a problem with shutting down the 740.  The 740b is wired thru a CB directly to the 24 volt avionics bus. When I turn off the avionics master, the 740b turns a light blue on the screen and never goes completely off unless I turn the emergency battery switch to OFF.  The emergency battery switch is very hard to access unless I take the 740b off it secure rack on the control column. If I leave the emergency batterey switch OFF, then it never charges and also would be near impossible to turn ON in an emergency. Anybody run into this yet?

can you post a picture to help me visualize this? I think that the easiest thing to do here now that i think about it would be to just unplug the thing after each flight (unless it's hardmounted)

Brolin, the light blue tint on the screen continues even after I pull the plug,  And I suppose it would stay light blue until the emergency battery runs out of juice.  With the emergency battery switch in the OFF position, the units shuts down normally with the usual ending screen asking if I want to shut down.

I agree. We need a touch screen front panel button to turn off the system. I'm in the same boat with a panel mounted 740.

It seems to me that there's something wrong with the "new" 740b.  My 740 displays a screen that says something like: "iFly power removed, unit will shut down in 15, 14, 13, ..." and shuts the entire unit down if I don't cancel the operation, or reconnect to power.  If yours isn't doing that it would seem that whatever is sensing/monitoring the incoming 12/24vdc is not working as intended.

Is it possible that your power supply to the iFly is still supplying some voltage even after everything is "shut down"?  Enough to fool the shutdown sensor, but not enough to actually power the device.
