Thanks Jeff, The file is writing as I'm typing this. I don't have a tablet, but I do have a laptop, I presume that will work as well. Will the 740 work if I use the included browser, or isn't that system appropriate for such a use?

Mike

The browser on the 740 (and 720 and 700; I've had them all) is is kinda useless as it needs an Internet connection to work, so I've never used it. Maybe they've updated it since I last tried it. But yes, I imagine you can use a pc and either plug the Stratux into the network via CAT-5 cable and SSH, or connect the pc to the Stratux wifi signal and update as I described above. I haven't tried these methods but I believe I've read where others have. If you haven't found it yet, there's good Stratux info here:

I connected my laptop to the internet, downloaded the .sh file and saved it. Then I connected to the Stratux and updated as you said. It seems to have worked. I can't get any antenna's on the ground here, but I did look on the Stratux Traffic page and several aircraft were listed, although it said they weren't providing any position, so they wouldn't be plotted on the map.

I presume that, like the iFly, there's no problem simply yanking the power away from the Stratux to shut it down?

Thanks for the help.

Mike

That's a gray area. There's always a chance that the software is updating an important file at the time power is pulled, resulting in corruption. There's a shutdown and a reboot option on that same Stratux webpage. However, the primary Stratux developer just pulls power and so do I. If your Stratux is within reach, you can always have a 2nd SD card handy.

Here's another question for any that have purchased the battery suggested by the Stratux team. Pass-through charging battery pack with cable "Pass Through" battery, to me, implied that we could keep it plugged in and it would provide it's full power for a period of time after the aircraft power vanished. However the Q & A seems to indicate differently:

Can i charge the power bank while its charging my phone?

Answer:
The instructions specifically say not to.

Hi, thanks for your inquiry. Yes, you can. But we don't suggest doing that as it will shorten the battery life.
Any problem, feel free to contact us again.

The next question is to the quality. There were several comments that said that the battery failed within months or weeks. They said the product support was very good, but some had repeated failures. Has anyone here had any issues? Has anyone found a suitable, and similarly priced battery elsewhere?
I did order the battery initially, but due to being an inexperienced Amazon shopper I managed to order two, caught it in time to remove the two from my already submitted order, but then I didn't know how to re-add just one to the order, and ordering it alone wouldn't qualify for free shipping. So while waiting for my proposed orders to meet the free shipping threshold I started reading.
