I use Jackery brand batteries for my pass-thru setup, and have had no issues in over a year. As for keeping it charged, it depends on the quality of your setup. If a cheap charging cable can only feed .5 amps to the battery and the Stratux needs .7, you'll eventually run the battery down. Also, don't expect a near-dead battery to supply the Stratux AND accept a charge; they tend to get stingy and keep most all the charging current for themselves. However, my 12,000mAh Jackery, when fully charged, can run the Stratux all day by itself. The pass thru setup just keeps me from having to recharge between trips.

I added a fan, fan controller, and a 1" OLED screen to my Stratux. Then I combined 2 Python scripts (that the Stratux guys had already written) into one script and changed the way the info is displayed. Rather than show all the info on one screen in a tiny tiny font, I enlarged the font and broke the info out into 4 seperate screens: Weather, Traffic, GPS, and CPU temp/Fan. Now I can easily read it from 4 feet away. Here's a video of it in action. Each screen is displayed for 3 seconds. Notice the fan stops when the temp drops below 110F. I've set the fan controller to to run the fan at 50% power above 110F; 75% power above 120F, and 100% power above 130F. Still a work in progress, but it's working.

Get this case. Everything is enclosed and protected and it has a fan.

I got that case but what do you plug the fan into? I assumed it used the same power as the rasberry pi but I can't see where to plug it in. Obviously, I'm missing something.
