Will the iFly 720 and 740 pair with a Stratux device? Here's a descriptive paragraph from a recent EAA write-up found at this link: www.eaa.org/en/eaa/aviation-communiti...

"Stratux works over Wi-Fi using the “GDL90 Protocol,” a standard data format for ADS-B in used by many receivers and most apps. For our iPad running ForeFlight, it was as simple as logging onto the Wi-Fi network broadcast by the unit, and ForeFlight automatically began using its data. Most apps other than Garmin Pilot, which exclusively uses a proprietary Garmin device, have been reported to be compatible with Stratux."

I built one and it works great on my 740 and Androids, Others use it with iDevices. iFly's latest version specifically supports Stratux. Just understand that Stratux is an open-source project that has yet to reach version 1.0, so you may encounter an occasional bug. I love mine.

As Jeff said, yes. I use mine with a 720, iPad mini, and Android phone - all running iFly - at the same time. The Stratux provides the WiFi network in the cockpit that allows the devices to share flight plans as well - I like it.

Is there away to use the Stratux with the Ifly700 via USB? I was wondering if you could install a 9pin serial port to a comm connection on the Rasberry PI and use a serial to USB to communicate with the IFLY700. Any help?

Loerne,

Unfortunately, the iFly 700 does not have a driver to support the USB input of ADS-B data. If the Stratux can send out Serial Data (GDL90), then you could use the USB or Serial Cable to feed into the iFly 700. As the 700 and Stratux are now, it will not support USB data from the stratux... I hope this helps.
