Flyright,

I think you may have misunderstood my post. We do allow Terrain, Airspace, Traffic alerts and more to be turned off. This is personally how my device are set up. We even reduce alerting inside an airport within and airport area to reduce nuisance alerts.

Please feel free to contact me on Monday and I'd be happy to clear this up for you and answer any questions personally and specifically for your needs. iFly GPS is one of the most customizable pilot navigation apps on the market. Anytime we consider adding an alert, we want to allow the option to turn it off or on. I'm sorry for any confusion my post may have caused, but I assure you you can remove alerts.

Sorry if I've misunderstood something here but Jeff's post just above mine iinferred the alerts could not be turned off. I think he would have done that - that is, turned them off if he could rather than writing about the issue on the forum.

Flyright,

No worries or need to apologize. I just wanted to make sure you had all the info. Our forums tend to have a support role too, so you will also see lots of questions, answers and pilot collaboration to constantly improve our product. Feel free to contact me if I can help with your decision on a 740 or even the App. I'd like to help if possible.

This one with a "Home Airport" in the mountains maybe a little different. Without knowing the actual airport, is it a PVT airport on the chart or registered with the FAA? If so, then we would automatically reduce terrain alerts to only a "Five Hundred" callout, other terrain alerts should be eliminated within that Airport Zone.

Now, if it is a non-registered airport, we might not know it's there. So in that case we can't automatically eliminate the terrain alerts. However by taping Setup -> Alert & Warnings -> Terrain Alerts, then they can be turned of or reduced. You can even leave the screen terrain highlighting on, but turn off the audible and visual alert messages. Attached is a picture of these settings.

But to be fair, Shane, even with terrain alertin disabled, one still has a constant exclamation point to ignore. Likewise, the 500' callout. These were added into iFly at some point....prior to that it was possible to completely disable terrain warnings.

Simply put: All of these features should be selectable/ deselectable.

Then I think you'll love the upcoming v9.4. If you have Terrain Alerts Disabled, it will basically not show the message or buttion and auto-acknowledge terrain alerts. That Exclamination Point will be faded out too. I'll have to review with Brian and Walter about the 500', that might very well be removed if disabled too. I need to confirm that.
