The main reason is that IE is a pretty pervasive program that is pretty hard to get rid of. Once gone its not something to put back. Windows has enough issues that adding another can of worms isn't worth the trouble. I'll just keep downloading for a few hours and hoping it will work.....than trying again til it does. I fly for fun and don't normally go too far so I don't need to update all the sectionals all the time but its a bit painful when I need to update the ones I use. The WAC charts don't help with that issue either....
