Interestingly, I did exactly the same route on my Droid tablet and it planned the route fine so it seems as if it's not the route but the desktop applicaton.

Ah-ha! Dummy alert!!!! I was using a desktop version from January (without realizing it). Update does not update the app, just the charts. There should be at least an alert that the app version is out of date (or maybe I just didn't see it).

Anyway, downloaded the new version and insatlled (why is this not available from within the app?), deleted the existing RP waypoints and re-ran RP - voila! Perfect.

You figured out the problem, so that's not so dumb.

+1 on the idea of having the software check for available software updates, even the beta ones (if your user account is marked as a beta tester).

Great idea - we could have it under 'check for update'... forwarding onto dev team.
