Hello,

I let my FlyQ subscription lapse and was excited to try out iflygps (found out about it through airplane geeks podcast).  For me, cross platform and easy UI are top priority so it seemed like a slam dunk, but all the pro pilots I know keep steering me to brand F.

Anyway, the lack image detail is a distraction for me.  Even the plates have fuzzy text (even in full screen view). I’m using a 10.5 iPad Pro primarily.  Is there a setting buried somewhere that is bent on saving disk space?

I’d gladly sacrifice storage space for a better visual experience.  If not, are there any short term plans to get the app up to modern resolution standards?  Like, in less than 29 days?  ;)

Thanks,

Anthony

Try going to Menu > Check for Updates > Advanced Options, and ensure that "High Resolution Charts" is selected.  (I think that's the default, so would be surprised if it's not.)

I only have Android and Windows devices, so I can't do a direct compare to Brand F, but I don't recall anyone ever complaining in the forums here about iFly charts being "fuzzy" before.  It's true that even with the hi-res charts you can zoom so far in that pixellization becomes apparent, but for me that doesn't start to happen until I'm zoomed in waaay past any level I would zoom to for normal usage.

Charts are not "fuzzy" on my iPad Mini 4. I have both VFR and IFR charts and plates and use only hi-res. They are perfect.

Thanks for the follow ups folks. I went back and checked the download setting and they were indeed on high by default.

Here’s a screen shot so you can see what I mean. I can’t give a comparison for the plates, since my subscription lapsed, but they were crystal clear, vector style PDFs just like you’d find on a desktop, no matter the zoom level.

To be clear (haha), I’m excited about getting this to work for me because I love the UI, customization potential, and android portage... I’m not looking to stir the pot or be negative about my experience.

Both of those are terrible.
