Today I received and gone thru all the necessary steps yet the device can't initialize GPS... All GPS data fields were - -. --. --

yes I was in an open area with unobstructed view of the sky.

Any idea?

Does your Stratux have an internal GPS. Those seem to have a hard time and take a long time for the first initialization. Try leaving it turned on all day if necessary and see if it ever connects. Your other option is to remove the internal GPS and order an external GPS from Amazon.

Echoing Tim's question - does your Stratux even have a GPS? In the basic shopping list, the GPS module is optional.

Did you buy one? I know may who, satisfied with the reception of the interal GPS in their tablet, didn't.

Well, I was under the impression that it has a some sort built in GPS receiver since it is advertised as : Stratux RXWX Dual Band ADS-B Receiver with AHRS & GPS Source

Also this is how it is advertised at this website:

----------------------

What's included in the Box:

- Dual Band ADS-B SDR's (978 & 1090)

- AHRS Chip - Drives Autopilot and Synthetic Vision

- Internal Stratux GPYes GPS ( No more floppy GPS puck getting in the way )  "I have no idea what the heck is this means but Ithought there is some sort GPS in it"

-------------------------

Also I was wondering does iFlyGPS offers Synthetic Vision? If not what good the AHRS function brings to the iFly GPS app I use on my iPad/iPhone?

Yes, that is the internal GPS plugged into one of the 4 USB ports.  As I said earlier, it should eventually get a fix if you leave it on long enough with a clear view of the sky.  Or you could remove that GPS and plug in an external GPS that plugs into the USB port.
