Is it possible to export flight trail data from the iPhone app or iFly 740 to use in another app?

Hi Don.  If you're *THE* Don Maxwell of Mooney fame then I have a friend, Chris, that worked with your son in Afghanistan.

The way I do it is to put the SD card in a computer and navigate to the /User/#FlightTrails directory.  Then find and copy to your computer the file(s) you want - the file name is the date and time of the flight. Then, you can import the file into http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ and create the desired file type you want - .gpx, kml, etc.  I create kml files that open up in Google Earth.  Let me know if you need more info.

Here's the result of the above method, recreating our 2 Father's Day flights.  Other path options allow you to show altitudes, speeds, etc.  I can also export motorcycle paths from an Android app to recreate my bike routes thru the mountains.  GPSVisualizer is a pretty neat tool but there's a learning curve.

Got it, Jeff. Thanks!

I should have thought to try the card in a computer--at least to see what's on it. (I did that when my 740 was new, but then forgot what I found.) And you've reminded me that I really should be updating with the card and have a backuip card, instead of bringing the 740 home to update it via wi-fi.

Sorry, I'm not your Don Maxwell, although I do have a "THEDonMaxwell" YouTube account. But for a while I used to get phone calls for another Don Maxwell whom I didn't know when we were both in Korea at the same time.

Ah, ok.  Well the "other" Don Maxwell is like the E. F. Hutton of Mooney - when he speaks, people listen.  Who knows, could've been him in Korea and he was probably getting your calls, too.  Good luck with the flight paths!
