John, I think it's a 30 mile ring and 3500'+/- to be in the hocky puck.  When you can piggyback off someone's out signal it's great.  Genrally it seems that if your are in a high traffic area there are plentyt of planes with an "out" signal to piggyback off.  I plan on equiping with an L3 LYNX and an iFly740 in the future.  Not cheap, but nice to have a better traffic picture.

The latest update fixed my issues with the PingBuddy and iFly520.

Ethan - Today I tried out the traffic option for the Ping for iFly on a flight up the valley from Eugene almost to Portland, Oregon. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many targets were displayed on my 720: everything from slow traffic at a few hundred feet to airliners at FL370 while I was at 4500 feet. Many targets displayed their flight number or N number. Didn't realize this, but looks like ADSB-In includes all traffic on radar. Perhaps the N numbers are from the mode-S equipped as well as those IFR? I did one intercept to verify the accuracy. Seemed like I was getting targets up and down the entire valley, but I'll test the distance more carefully next flight.

Also light rain today so I got to test the nexrad. This is a heck of a bargain for 135 bucks.
