And yet if the 740 has an internal battery that doesn't seem to be functioning as intended, the feedback is definitely valid.

I think the point here is that the 15 seconds till power off of the 740 defeats one of the reasons for having a built-in backup battery. 15 seconds is not long enough for the pilot to respond, should he/she be focused on other tasks. It should be longer, or adjustable per the pilot's preference.

Don, exactly the point I was trying to make. 15 seconds is just too short. The user needs to be able to adjust the time till shutdown.

I've had similar problems and solved it by replacing the power cable. It appears the power cable head and/or the device power pin have deteriorated over time.

Additionally, the "internal battery" does not work as was expected and I was told the internal battery is really a capicator with less than expected capability. I always keep a phone external battery and cable in the cockpit in case of an aircraft electrical failure. Make sure the external battery has a high voltage output because of the high requirements of the iFly GPS. Higher requirements than an iPad.

Craig, the 720 has a capacitor that maintains 30 seconds of power, to try and prevent power-flicker-reboots. The 740 has a Li-ion battery that should provide at least 20 minutes of power.

I'll make sure that customizing the 15-second countdown is on the wishlist for a future release.

Thanks!
Walter
