Update: Continued playing shows that Clarity and Freeflight will connect to the 720 and provide heartbeats and etc. Guessing it will take altitude now to be able to connect to ground signals and update with traffic and Wx . Thanks

Just powered up a new Ping Buddy to play with , Was inside at the time and was using my 720 ifly for EFB. The Wifi connected up fine and reconnected up several times on power up. However the device seem to be not recognized by any of the listed devices. Tried Stratus v1 , Levil, Skyradar with no luck although was still showing wifi connected in settings the Connected devices had nothing . Any ideas? I expected to see Wx . Do you think at altitude will make any difference?

My pingBuddy was recognized by the Stratux/FlightBox setting. The only thing you will receive in your house is some close by 1090 ADS-B out traffic and maybe an occassionally 978 out traffic. To receive other traffic and weather you need to be receiving one or more ground stations which normally happens about 1000 agl.

I flew today for the first time using my new pingBuddy. It seemed to work well with my iPad Mini 4 and iPhone 6S Plus. It did take iFly GPS about 30 minutes to start showing updated metars/TAF's while another app I sometimes use showed them much sooner. Also, for the entire flight I had the Target Altitude instrument displayed showing 1200+ regardless of what altitude I was at or whether I was using a sectional, WAC, or low altitude. I forgot what this instrument is supposed to show.

I tried the Altitude Instrument a few weeks ago too, thinking that I could tap on it and set an Altitude. (Not yet.) Mine showed something funky too. I'm guessing that if you don't set an altitude thru the Optimizer (which I rarely do), iFly defaults to some minimum altitude. (I get some funky +VST readings too because of this.) But I'm sure that Brian can tell us exactly what's going on.

Mid-flight I ran the altitude optimizer and it worked, but the target altitude did not change. The optimizer said fly at 4500 feet VFR.
